We had such a great experience working with Kimberley and her team at Story Group. She made the whole process of reviewing our KiwiSaver, health, and life insurance so easy to understand and completely stress-free. She was knowledgeable, approachable, and incredibly relatable, which made us feel comfortable asking questions and confident in our decisions. We never felt pressured, and she genuinely had our best interests at heart.

Sara at Story has helped me immensely firstly with my Kiwisaver and now with my life and trauma insurance. She has been extremely knowledgeable and patient in explaining all my options and always making sure I fully understand what is happening and my best moves going forward.

What happens on the call.
Fifteen minutes. That’s the whole thing.
1
You tell us where you’re at.
Renting, saving, roughly what you earn, and when you’d like to buy. Have your KiwiSaver login handy if you can, but it’s fine if you can’t find it.
2
We show you what you’ve got and where the gaps are.
Kim walks you through which fund you’re in, what it invests in, what you’re paying in fees, and what that means for your plans.
3
You decide what (if anything) to do next.
Some people finish the call happy with where they are. Others want to make a change. Either way, it’s your call.
Worth knowing.
Four things we end up explaining on most calls.
Your fund type matters.
Conservative, balanced and growth funds invest very differently. Which one makes sense depends on when you’ll need the money, so it’s worth checking yours.
Fees add up quietly.
Every fund charges fees, and they come out of your balance every year. It’s worth knowing what you’re paying and what you get for it.
First home withdrawal has rules.
After three years in KiwiSaver you may be able to withdraw most of your savings towards your first home. There are conditions, so it pays to know them before you start house hunting.
No question is too basic.
Not sure what a PIR is, or whether your employer is chipping in? Ask. That’s what the call is for.
Why Story Group.
Small enough to care.
We’re a small Christchurch team, started by Lisa and Kim. You’ll talk to the same people from the first call to the last.
Real people.
You’ll talk to Kim, not a call centre or a chatbot.
Plain English.
If we use a word you don’t know, that’s on us. Ask away.
No hard sell.
We’ll tell you what we see. What you do with it is entirely up to you.
You deal with Story, not a call centre.
When it’s time for a first home withdrawal, or your plans change down the track, you come to us and we’ll help you through it.
Meet your adviser.
Hi, I’m Kim.
"Most people I talk to aren’t behind, they’ve just never had anyone explain their KiwiSaver in plain English. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to stop guessing."

Bring your questions, even the basic ones.
The Story Group team. Small, local, and on the end of the phone.
Fair questions.
These come up a lot. Ask us anything else on the call.
My KiwiSaver’s with my bank, is that bad?
Not at all. Plenty of KiwiSaver schemes are run by banks. What matters is whether the fund type and fees make sense for you, wherever it sits.
We’ll look at that with you on the call.
I picked my fund years ago, should I change it?
Maybe, maybe not. A fund that made sense a few years ago might still be fine, or your plans might have moved on.
We’ll show you what you’ve got and you can decide. We won’t suggest a switch for the sake of it.
Will this cost me anything?
No. The call and our advice are free. If you move your KiwiSaver to a provider through us, they may pay us a commission.
We’ll explain exactly how we’re paid before you decide anything.
Do I need a lump sum to start investing?
No. Your KiwiSaver is already investing every payday. If you’d like to invest outside KiwiSaver too, many managed funds let you start small and add to it regularly.
Happy to talk you through it on the call.
